Importing phones to Indonesia

As of September 2021, Indonesia has implemented a new regulation for importing phones.

If you're bringing a phone to Indonesia that you didn't buy in the country, and you plan to stay in the country for more than 90 days, you need to register it with the Indonesian Directorate General of Taxation.

You can do this online or at a customs office in the airport.

A phone that is not registered will not work with local SIM cards.

Once you've registered your phone, you'll receive a QR code.

You need to show this QR code to customs officials at the airport when you arrive in Indonesia.

If the value of your phone is less than $500, you don't have to pay import duty.

You can only import two phones per person.

Here are the steps on how to register your phone:

Go to the Indonesian Directorate General of Taxation website: https://www.pajak.go.id/.

Click on the "Importation of Goods" tab.

Click on the "Electronic Device" link.

Fill out the registration form.

Pay the registration fee.

Print out the registration receipt.

Show the registration receipt to customs officials at the airport when you arrive in Indonesia.
