Let me transport you to the amazing island of Nusa Penida, a paradise where breathtaking landscapes blend with rich cultural heritage! This route will immerse you in a real fairy tale.
Let's start with Goa Giri Putri - a temple inside a white limestone cave on the northeast coast of Nusa Penida. The entrance to the cave may seem dangerous as it's a small opening among rocks, but if you manage to squeeze through with your eyes closed for the first three meters - it will be very interesting further. According to legend, the cave was created by a powerful meditating priest who had the ability to carve stones with just his gaze. The cave is not alone, there are several of them. But they don't look like a chain of cavities connected by passages. In some places, the vaults open up higher and wider, forming conditional halls. Altars and benches for temple parishioners are installed in the halls. According to monks, there are several underground springs here that are considered holy and even healing. Along the way, you'll come across branches where there's no light, and passing through some of them for about 20-30 meters in pitch darkness with only a phone flashlight - you'll want to turn back quickly. The darkness seems to thicken and become stuffier. And if you remember that all of Nusa Penida is the home of the black magic king Mekaling, the desire to rush out into the light becomes unbearable. ☺️
Next up is Atuh Beach: Atuh Beach is a hidden paradise located at the eastern tip of Nusa Penida. According to legend, this is where the first settlers landed on the island. Known for its tranquil beauty and secluded location, Atuh Beach is a crescent-shaped strip of beach with white sand surrounded by high rocky cliffs. You can descend to the beach via a steep staircase carved into the rock, and the breathtaking view from the top is simply mesmerizing. Here, you'll find yourself on the edge of the world, enjoying the breathtaking view of the ocean and the cliffs surrounding this paradise corner.
Diamond Beach is a sight worth seeing. Imagine untouched white sand, crystal-clear water, and some truly impressive cliffs. The icing on the cake? Those diamond-shaped rock formations that gave the beach its name. This place is truly a piece of paradise. The staircase carved into the cliff at Diamond Beach offers incredible views of blue water, white sand, and palm trees - it's simply unreal. There are very few beach entrances in the world like this one.
Thousand Islands Cliff is another gem of the island. From here, you'll have a stunning view of countless islets scattered in the crystal-clear waters of the ocean. It's the perfect spot for landscape photography enthusiasts and simply for contemplating the beauty of nature.
And finally, Rumah Pohong - Tree House: - an incredible treehouse that has become a real landmark of Nusa Penida. This unique structure is surrounded by picturesque landscapes and guarantees unforgettable impressions.
